Is it possibly to use 'stream' context with OpenResty?

I know Nginx open sourced this functionality on May, this year.

Giving more information, I'm getting 'unknown directive "stream"' when using it.

You need to pass "--with-stream" in the ./configure script for openresty. It will pass this option to the nginx configure script and get enabled when the nginx src is built.

Thanks for your answer, I completely forgot to add that flag while configuring.

Is it allowed to use the access_by_lua when using 'stream'?

Eventually you will be able to, but with the access_by_lua directive
of the ngx_stream_lua module (which will be part of a future OpenResty
release).

I'm currently busy hacking on the ngx_stream_echo module:

Feel free to play with it! This silly module is a port of
ngx_http_echo_module to the new "stream" subsystem of nginx 1.9.0+.
This project will pave a way for the ngx_stream_lua module's
development. I hope a prototype of the ngx_stream_lua module will be
available next month. Oh yeah, I'm busy making that happen sooner
rather than later atm :)
